Talon Aviation was established in 2020 at Twin Lakes and moved to Mount Airy in 2025. We are a Part 61 training program offering two aircraft for training and rental to approved pilots who want to maintain or improve their skills.
Managed by Gold Seal Instructor Jerome Cannon, the school employs highly qualified CFIs chosen for their excellence, supporting every student’s success.
Our fleet supports training from Private Pilot through Commercial rating, featuring exceptional, IFR-capable aircraft with Garmin avionics, and low-time engines and airframes for a reliable training environment.
Talon Aviation also offers Mercy Charter Flights (Angel Flights) for those in need, funded by the Talon Foundation Eagles Wing Ministry as Christian outreach. These flights provide disaster relief and transport for individuals requiring medical treatment, reflecting our commitment to service and sharing Christ’s love.
Talon is proudly based at Mount Airy / Surry County Airport (KMWK) in Mount Airy, North Carolina. We are located in the first building off Airport Road, making us easy to find with convenient parking right outside.
When you arrive, you can step directly into the Talon Aviation office for ground school, flight planning, and pre-flight preparation in a comfortable learning environment.
KMWK offers a safe, low-traffic area ideal for flight training. With a long runway and minimal congestion, students spend more time flying and less time waiting — building confidence in a calm, controlled environment.
The airport also features a brand-new FBO, on-field maintenance, and full-service fueling. The incredible airport staff will gladly pull aircraft from the hangars and fuel them upon request, allowing you to focus fully on your training.
